Whiskey Barrel Edition
Aged like fine Whiskey.
The Whiskey Barrel Edition combines decades-aged wood with precise, modern workspace design.
Each piece is crafted from original whiskey barrels in which the wood matured for 20 to 40 years. Char marks, patina, and subtle irregularities are traces of a material that has already lived a life of its own.
In our workshop in the Black Forest, the barrel staves are carefully refined with respect for the material, preserving the character that time has shaped.

Limited to 20 pieces.
This edition is limited to 20 pieces worldwide. Not for marketing purposes, but because each one undergoes an extensive production process. Reworking the decades-old barrel staves requires craftsmanship, patience, and a deep respect for the material.

Genuine whiskey barrel wood.
Each piece in the Whiskey Barrel Edition is made from decommissioned whiskey barrels that have been in use for decades. A material that has learned patience is transformed into something that remains constant.

Handcrafted in the Black Forest.
The distinctive material is processed in the Black Forest by experienced craftsmen. It is a demanding process that requires a passion for wood, craftsmanship, and great attention to every detail.

Genuine and honest.
By nature the expressive wood brings its own character: burn marks, patina, and natural irregularities. The goal was never to create something flawless, but rather to continue the history of the material and consciously preserve the traces of time.

Precisely crafted.
Despite their original character, all surfaces are carefully finished. They are sanded, sealed and designed for everyday use. Raw materials meet clean functionality.

From the barrel to the workspace.
The curved barrel staves can only be transformed into the clean, precise shape of the Setup Cockpit with significant effort. Each stave is trimmed by hand, cut into shorter segments, and then glued to achieve the required dimensions. Only then do the further processing steps for the Setup Cockpit follow.

Certificate of authenticity made from a barrel stave.
Each Setup Cockpit comes with a certificate of authenticity. This consists of an original barrel stave from the same whiskey barrels used in production. It documents the origin of the wood and creates a tangible connection between the material and the end product.

20 Cockpits. 20 Unique Pieces.
The Whiskey Barrel Edition is limited to 20 pieces. One barrel yields enough material for approximately three Setup Cockpits. The high level of craftsmanship and complex processing involved make scaling up production practically impossible. Each piece is individually numbered by laser engraving, making every copy unique.
How it's made.

Fire shapes the depth.
Before the barrels are filled, their interior is carefully charred. The fire caramelizes the wood's natural sugars and opens its pores. This process lays the foundation for the whiskey's complex aromas, and for the deep distinctive grain that remains permanently visible in the wood.

Decades under pressure.
Throughout maturation, the wood is in constant motion. It expands and contracts, absorbs liquid and releases it again. This continuous process gives the whiskey its depth, and the wood a complexity expressed in its color, density, and grain.

Marks that remain.
Each barrel stave carries visible signs of its previous use. During refinement, these traces are not removed but intentionally preserved. They are not imperfections, but part of the story that makes every piece of the Whiskey Barrel Edition unique.

Out of passion for materials and history.
The Whiskey Barrel Edition is a project close to our hearts at BALOLO. The special history of the material, its traces and irregularities, fascinated us from the very beginning. We wanted to create something that combines material history, a passion for craftsmanship, and an appreciation for longevity.
At a time when many things are created for short-lived trends and fast-paced lifestyles, we wanted to design something that is made for the future and consciously carries its past within it.
